HIP HIP I'M GAY! CALL OUT
I am currently undertaking the research and development phase of my new show ‘HIP HIP I’M GAY!’ a comedy cabaret exploring the links between mental health issues and LGBTQ+ identity. It will work towards tackling hard-hitting subjects surrounding both themes and translate them into something more tangible and relatable for not only the Queer community but our allies too.
Next month I will be taking up residency at Metal Liverpool to speak with members of the community to get a better understanding of what it means to be Queer in 2018 and why we are 3 times more likely to develop a mental health condition than our hetro siblings. As part of my research I will be conducting one on one interviews with members of our community to hear their personal experiences and what they have to say, so I can gain as much knowledge around these subjects as possible to make a flippin’ good show.
This is where you come in! I’m looking to speak to people of all genders who identity as lesbian, bisexual, gay and/or queer who’d be willing to come to Edge Hill to sit with me for an hour and have a cuppa on either 21st or 22nd May? My hope is that we’ll have a good old natter and it will be a therapeutic chance to reflect. It is also an opportunity to be part of the project as YOUR stories will inform the show. If you are interested or have any questions, please drop me a message or email Ashleigh.firstname.lastname@example.org.
